Renewable Energy Sources (RES) are forms of usable energy that come from various natural processes, such as wind, geothermal energy, water circulation, and others. Their use does not require any active intervention, such as extraction, pumping, or combustion, as is the case with traditional energy sources used until now, such as oil.
The most widespread renewable energy source is solar energy, through the use of photovoltaic technology. This technology uses photovoltaic panels, which are made of silicon and have the ability to convert incoming solar radiation into electricity (direct current).
The high levels of sunshine in Greece make the installation of a photovoltaic system an extremely beneficial solution for energy saving and energy production.
